The Song Wren (Cyphorhinus phaeocephalus) is a spectacular bird of the Costa Rican wet rainforest. These birds travel in small family groups, and you can often hear their amazing songs as they forage together through the understory.
Seeing them is a bit more challenging. These are shy birds and they are incredibly adept at perching immediately behind a twig or leaf, making photos challenging.
But sometimes they perch out in the open and put on a show!
These photos and videos were taken at Tapir Valley Nature Reserve, one of the best places in Bijagua to hear and see these birds.
